Requirements Process Gravida Results Related techniques What is the ROPA method? The technique is simple and effective: One of the mothers undergoes ovarian stimulation to provide the oocytes, while the couple will be pregnant. It is the abbreviation of Reception of oocytes of the couple, that is, the pregnant mother receives the fertilized eggs from the donor mother. That means that both of you will be part of the future baby that is to come. See more Being mothers is one of the most important decisions of your life and from Gravida we want to go along with you to walk that path towards motherhood. The ROPA method has made Gravida one of the most popular choices among female couples and LGTBI families. Legal recognition as a mother of the two members of the couple is possible thanks to a legal exception from the Assisted Reproduction Law 14/2006. REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ROPA METHOD To perform the ROPA Method for all couples, you need the following requirements: UTERUS AND MENSTRUATION Presence of a uterus with the ability to gestate, with menstrual cycles. SPERM OF A DONOR At Gravida we have our own semen bank. HEALTH Absence of physical or mental maternal illness that contraindicates hormonal treatment and / or pregnancy. ROPA METHOD PROCESS Ovarian stimulation The ovarian stimulation treatment, as is done in any In Vitro Fertilization process, is carried out with the aim that the ovaries produce more eggs than usual in order to have more options to achieve pregnancy. Follicular puncture The oocytes are obtained through an ovarian puncture, which is performed during a mild sedation procedure, and are fertilized with donor semen. Fertilization After fertilization of the eggs with the donor’s semen, the embryos will be obtained and, after a few days, the embryos will be transferred in the uterus of the pregnant mother, who will have prepared her endometrium using progesterone to receive the embryos. Embryo Transfer Transferring the embryos at blastocyst stage allows for better selection and improves synchronization between the embryonic stage and the uterine environment, which increases implantation rates.
